Advanced Trauma Informed De-Escalation

This advanced training session is for participants who have some experience in de-escalation and are looking to hone their skills and experiment with new techniques. This training will give an overview of the core principles of trauma-informed de-escalation and will offer a highly interactive environment. Participants will practice active listening skills for times of crisis, open body language, mirroring, different intervention strategies, and action focused on safety. As we work through different scenarios, we’ll also discuss tools for self-regulation in stressful situations. This training is grounded in evidence based practices like Trauma-Informed Care and an anti-oppression framework.

Before attending, participants are required to have completed OTN’s Trauma-Informed De-escalation in the past or to have read through OTN’s Guide to De-escalation (check back for the updated guide coming soon).
